Crossfire Tactical Action Adventure Revealed for PS5, Xbox, and PC

news Morgan Jun 09, 2026

Smilegate and That's No Moon have officially unveiled Crossfire, a new tactical action adventure currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The project is led by developers whose previous credits include The Last of Us, Uncharted, Call of Duty, and Destiny.

Moving beyond the franchise's traditional first-person shooter roots, Crossfire introduces a story-driven experience built around third-person combat, stealth mechanics, and cinematic storytelling. The game places a strong emphasis on survival, tactical decision-making, and character relationships.

A Story Centered on Two Operatives

The story follows Layla and Cross, two elite operatives who find themselves on opposite sides of a brutal conflict. As events unfold, circumstances force them into an uneasy alliance, pushing both characters to confront larger threats while struggling to survive.

Their evolving relationship serves as a central pillar of the narrative, shaping both the story and the player's journey throughout the game.

Tactical Combat and Stealth Gameplay

Combat is designed around tactical choices rather than constant firefights. Players can approach encounters through direct engagement or stealth, making use of positioning, environmental awareness, and timing to gain an advantage.

Gameplay footage highlights fluid movement, dynamic combat scenarios, and adaptive cover mechanics that support a more strategic style of play.

Cinematic Storytelling Takes the Spotlight

Narrative presentation plays a major role in the experience. Character performances, scripted sequences, and large-scale set pieces combine to create a cinematic action adventure that differs significantly from previous entries in the series.

The development team's AAA background is reflected in the game's production values, character-driven storytelling, and overall presentation.

A New Chapter for Crossfire

While Crossfire has long been known for its multiplayer FPS gameplay, this new title expands the universe through a standalone story focused on characters, survival, and tactical action.

By blending stealth, narrative-driven progression, and third-person combat, the game aims to introduce the franchise to a broader audience beyond its traditional shooter fanbase.
