In case you missed it, independent film and game production studio, Lofty Sky Games revealed its newest title in production, Hope in the City, with a world premiere cinematic trailer during Future’s FGS Live from Los Angeles showcase on Saturday. 

Hope in the City is a non-linear narrative mystery game from the team behind the 2023 GDC Pitch Winner, Sky of Tides, and the Annie and Peabody Award-nominated Eternal Spring, Canada’s first animated feature chosen as the Entry for Best International Feature Film at the Academy Awards®.

In Hope in the City, 17-year-old Hope Song returns home from school to find her parents missing. Unable to find answers for their strange disappearance, she digs into their case herself. Using her observant eye as an artist to piece together clues, Hope uncovers a dark world that lies beneath the surface of her peaceful urban life. 

This week’s teaser trailer introduces Hope and the game’s setting but viewers are encouraged to tune into Future’s Gamescom broadcast FGS Live from Cologne in August for more detail about the gameplay. In the meantime, Hope in the City’s key features include:

Using Triangulation, an art style that uses triangles formed by three points on the subject matter one is drawing (ex: the corners of a shape, three points on a face) to achieve accurate proportions, establish objects’ relationship to one another. The result is a unique world that pulls you in and invites closer exploration.
