Where to Find Moorwing in Hollow Knight Silksong

Location: Greymoor (Act 1)

Moorwing is a mid-game boss in Hollow Knight: Silksong. You’ll first come across it in Act 1, at the far edge of Greymoor, right before reaching the Haunted Bellhart.

Note: If you’ve already completed the Lost Flea wish, Moorwing will not appear in Act 1.

West of Halfway Home (Act 2)

If you miss the fight, don’t worry—Moorwing will return in Act 2, this time located west of Halfway Home. The Act 2 encounter is optional and not required to progress the story.

How to Beat Moorwing in Hollow Knight Silksong

• Pogo Off Moorwing During Its Dive

When Moorwing swoops down, leap into the air and pogo slash its back to score extra damage. If you have the Reaper Crest, your pogo will turn into a crescent swing, giving you a wider range to punish its dive attack.

• Dash Away From the Drill Attack

Watch for Moorwing pulling its body back—this signals its drill-style lunge. Quickly dash away before it strikes, or you risk taking two hearts of damage if caught by its claws.

• Avoid the Circle AoE Attack

When Moorwing flips upside down, it’s about to unleash its large saw blade AoE attack. Immediately sprint out of the glowing circle’s range to avoid being hit.

• Use the Water’s Edge for Safety

Alternatively, move to the right edge of the stage near the water. In this position, the summoned saw blades will fall harmlessly into the water, sparing you from damage.

• Deal Consistent Damage With the Sting Shard

The Sting Shard tool works especially well due to Moorwing’s large size. It can strike continuously during its AoE charge-up or right after its dive. You can purchase Sting Shard from the Forge Daughter in the Deep Docks for 140 Rosaries and 1 Craftmetal.

• Recruit Garmond and Zaza (Optional Allies)

In a room west of Greymoor, you’ll meet Garmond and Zaza, two NPCs who can assist in the Moorwing battle.

• After meeting them, trigger the Moorwing encounter (even if you lose or flee).

• Return to their room and tell them about the boss.

• They’ll move closer to the entrance. Speak to them again, and they’ll offer to help in the fight.

If you’d prefer to face Moorwing solo, you can decline their offer or skip talking to them altogether.

Flies downward and attack Hornet.

• Drill Attack

Pulls back, then thrusts forward with claw-like legs in a drilling motion.

• Saw Blade Attack

Moorwing uses saw blades that slice across the arena floor.

Flips upside down and spawns two saw blades that cut in a large circular radius.
