Metaphor: ReFantazio launches October 11
Atlus has revealed that its highly anticipated RPG, Metaphor: ReFantazio, is set to launch on October 11th for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
During a recent livestream, director Katsura Hashino, known for his work on previous Atlus titles such as Shin Megami Tensei III, Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5, shared insights into the development process. Fans will be delighted to learn that Persona composer Shoji Meguro will be returning to craft ReFantazio's soundtrack, while renowned Nier: Automata concept artist Koda Kazuma will contribute as a guest artist.

Metaphor: ReFantazio's narrative revolves around the protagonist's quest for the throne following the assassination of the kingdom's ruler. The game introduces a unique political dynamic, where individuals from any social class can vie for the throne, provided they garner support from the populace. The kingdom itself boasts intricate machinery and vehicles designed by Ikuto Yamashita, known for his work on Neon Genesis Evangelion.

One of the game's standout features is the introduction of Archetypes, which function similarly to Personas, offering characters various classes such as the versatile "seeker," the powerful mage, and the agile thief. Players can also transform into different heroic figures during combat.

Metaphor: ReFantazio blends real-time action with turn-based gameplay, allowing players to utilize sword strikes to damage weaker enemies. However, for more formidable foes, players can strategically call upon teammates to initiate turn-based battles.
In a nod to Persona's Social Link system, ReFantazio incorporates a similar mechanic known as the Follower system. By forming bonds with various characters throughout the game, players unlock new Archetypes and abilities.
