The update was announced during PlayStation’s latest State of Play broadcast. Following the reveal, S-GAME CEO and Phantom Blade Zero creator Soulframe Liang issued a public message apologizing to players, saying the team did not want to release the game before it had reached the level of polish they wanted.

According to the studio, the additional 50 days will be used to polish key areas rather than add major new content. Recent work includes upgraded character models, reworked environments, and visual refinements designed to make the game feel more open and visually distinct while preserving its wuxia punk identity. The team also said it is working to maintain strong visual presentation without relying solely on ray tracing, so more players can experience a consistent version of the game at launch.

S-GAME also confirmed that a new gameplay trailer featuring previously unseen footage will be released when pre-orders open. After that, Phantom Blade Zero will receive its own dedicated State of Play presentation, with a 15-to-20-minute deep dive covering the game’s world, combat, exploration, and character progression systems.

Phantom Blade Zero is a third-person action RPG set in the “Phantom World,” blending Chinese wuxia, fast-paced martial arts combat, dark fantasy, and punk-inspired visual design. The game follows Soul, a warrior with only 66 days left to live, as he fights assassins and uncovers a larger conspiracy.

Addressing speculation that the delay was linked to competition from other major releases in late 2026, Liang reportedly cited a famous line from Jin Yong’s The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber to suggest that the decision was based on the game’s own quality rather than the wider release calendar.
