Time Takers Showcases Closed Beta Highlights With Its Unique "Time Energy" System
Time Takers recently wrapped up its first Closed Beta Test, with publisher NC (NCSOFT) and developer Mistil Games following up the test period by releasing a highlight reel showcasing gameplay moments from the beta. The video features the game’s high-speed combat, hero abilities, and its central “Time Energy” mechanic, which serves as both a resource system and a player’s lifeline during matches. According to previously released beta details, the CBT ran from March 13 to March 21 on PC via Steam.
Described as a third-person team-based survival shooter, Time Takers centers around squads of three players fighting across “time-fractured” battlefields. Rather than relying on traditional health systems, the game introduces “Time Energy” as its core mechanic. Players must collect and manage this resource throughout a match, using it to stay alive while also upgrading abilities and equipping combat-enhancing “apps” Spending too much Time Energy can leave teams vulnerable, creating a constant balance between survival and power progression.

The game also incorporates hero-shooter elements through its roster of playable characters, each featuring unique abilities and distinct visual themes inspired by different eras and settings. During the closed beta, players were able to access 12 playable characters alongside three maps, including the Japanese-inspired Yokogawa, the medieval-themed Morstadt, and the futuristic neon-lit city of Miraesi. The developers have emphasized mobility, team coordination, and fast decision-making as core pillars of the gameplay experience.

From the footage and currently available gameplay information, Time Takers appears to position itself as a more system-driven multiplayer shooter, where managing resources is just as important as combat performance. The ability to share Time Energy with teammates, dynamically strengthen builds during matches, and adapt strategies around limited resources gives the game a distinct identity compared to more traditional arena or hero shooters.

At present, Time Takers remains in active development, with no final release date announced. The game is planned for release on PC and consoles, while the recently concluded CBT1 served as the first large-scale public test focused on gathering player feedback and validating core gameplay systems ahead of future testing phases.
