Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final installment of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. The action RPG is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store. Newly revealed details highlight open-world exploration, Highwind airship traversal, playable Vincent and Cid, and a new character progression system.

Rather than following the more region-based structure of previous entries, Revelation introduces a freely explorable world connected through the iconic Highwind. Players will be able to travel across the planet, discover new locations, and engage with expanded gameplay systems throughout the adventure.

Explore the Planet with the Highwind

One of the game's biggest additions is full Highwind airship traversal. Players can freely fly across the world map and access regions from the air, transforming the legendary airship into a core part of exploration.

The system goes beyond traditional fast travel, allowing players to move seamlessly between locations and deploy directly into the world from above. Newly showcased areas include Wutai and Mideel, both of which play important roles in the final chapter's journey.

Vincent and Cid Become Playable

For the first time in the remake trilogy, Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind join the roster as fully playable party members.

Vincent brings a combat style built around ranged attacks and powerful transformations, while Cid specializes in aggressive spear-based techniques and high-mobility combat. Their addition completes the iconic FF7 party lineup and expands strategic options during battles.

FITS System Expands Character Progression

Another major addition is the FITS system, a new progression mechanic that allows characters to adopt different combat styles through specialized outfits.

Each outfit grants unique abilities and alters how a character performs in combat. Inspired by classic Final Fantasy job systems, FITS adds another layer of customization alongside weapons, abilities, and Materia combinations.

A Larger and More Dynamic World

The story takes place as Meteor continues its approach toward the Planet and the colossal Weapons awaken across the world. As Cloud and his companions pursue Sephiroth, players will encounter new threats, explore additional regions, and participate in large-scale events that shape the fate of the Planet.

With expanded exploration, a complete playable roster, and deeper customization systems, Final Fantasy VII Revelation is positioned as the most ambitious entry in the remake trilogy to date.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
