Massive Open World
One of the biggest highlights of AION 2 is its scale. According to official information, the game's world is approximately 36 times larger than that of the original AION, providing more room for exploration, large-scale encounters, and open-world activities.
The expanded world is designed to support seamless travel across diverse regions while accommodating large numbers of players participating in both PvE and PvP content.

Flying Combat
Flying combat remains a defining feature of the franchise and returns as a core gameplay system in AION 2.
Players can engage in aerial exploration, airborne battles, and large-scale sky warfare. Unlike many MMORPGs where flight serves primarily as transportation, AION 2 continues to integrate aerial movement directly into combat mechanics and progression systems.
This three-dimensional combat design remains one of the series' strongest differentiators in the MMORPG genre.

Large-Scale Faction Warfare
The conflict between the Elyos and Asmodians returns, with the Balaur continuing to play a major role in the world's ongoing struggle.
Faction warfare remains a central gameplay pillar, combining PvP and PvE elements into large-scale PvPvE battles. Players will compete for territory, strategic objectives, and faction dominance across contested regions.
The system continues to be one of the franchise's most recognizable features and a key part of its long-term endgame experience.

Unreal Engine 5 Visuals
Built using Unreal Engine 5, AION 2 delivers a substantial visual upgrade compared to previous entries in the series.
The engine enables improved environmental detail, enhanced lighting, larger view distances, and more immersive world design. Combined with the expanded map size, these improvements aim to create a modern MMORPG experience for today's PC audience.

Character Progression and Customization
Character progression remains a major focus in AION 2.
Players will develop their characters through equipment upgrades, progression systems, and combat specialization while participating in a variety of PvE, PvP, and PvPvE activities.
Long-term progression and build customization are expected to play a significant role throughout both leveling and endgame content.

AION 2 is scheduled for a global release in September 2026 via Steam.
