Subnautica 2 is a survival adventure game set in a brand-new alien underwater world. Developed by Unknown Worlds Entertainment, it is the sequel to Subnautica and marks a new chapter in the Subnautica universe.

A New World, Familiar Dread

A new journey is beginning, one that takes place on a strange, alien ocean world where survival is uncertain, and even the definition of  "human" may no longer apply.
You arrive as a pioneer sent to a distant planet, tasked with continuing a mission that already feels off from the start. An onboard AI continuously guides your actions, while behind the surface of this mission appears to lie a more controlling and increasingly unsettling truth.

Co-op Changes the Experience

The game introduces online co-op for up to four players. While this adds teamwork and base-building possibilities, it may reduce the isolation that made the original so tense and atmospheric.

Building and Progression

Construction systems are expanded with more freedom and complexity. Players can build more customized bases and craft advanced tools, vehicles and upgrades to suit different environments.

A Living, Unstable World

The alien ocean world features diverse biomes and ecosystems, but something is wrong, balance has been disrupted. Players explore, scan, and study strange lifeforms, including massive Leviathan creatures. A new genetic evolution system also allows biological adaptation to survive harsher conditions.
Subnautica 2 is not a full reinvention, but an expansion of the original formula. Its success will depend on how well new systems like co-op and evolution work without losing the series' signature sense of isolation and tension.

Early Access

The game will launch in Early Access, meaning content will continue to grow over time. Allowing players to experience the new ocean world for the first time and take part in its ongoing development.
