NCSOFT has released a new key visual and additional world-building details for Astrae Oratio, an upcoming anime-style “divine chronicle” RPG developed by Dynamis One and published by NCSOFT. The information was shared through the game’s official social media channels on May 19.

The newly revealed visual depicts a scene from the “Divine Trial,” a dueling judgment system between wizards featured in the game’s world. According to a teaser previously released on May 7, magical disputes in Astrae Oratio are traditionally resolved through these formal duels. 

Alongside the visual reveal, new terminology tied to the game’s setting was also introduced. “Clais” are staff-like magical tools derived from the Ancient Greek word for “key,” and are described as essential equipment for casting magic as well as symbols of a wizard’s status. Another term, “Artifact,” refers to tools used after entering an “other world” through a Clais, allowing users to access forms of magic otherwise unavailable to them.

While gameplay systems connected to these concepts have not yet been fully detailed, the terminology suggests that magical equipment and artifacts may play a role in character progression and combat customization.

Previously, Astrae Oratio introduced its protagonist under the description:

“I’m just a civilian... I’m not a magician, and I don’t have any special abilities, either.”

The main character is presented as an ordinary Tokyo public official rather than a traditional fantasy hero or wizard.

Set in an alternate version of Tokyo where magic accelerated technological and social development beyond real-world history, Astrae Oratio places players in the role of a local government official who becomes involved with the Special District Bureau, an organization responsible for managing wizards. After being appointed as a bureau chief, players are tasked with handling administrative duties, resolving disputes, and building relationships with various wizards across Tokyo’s 23 wards.

At present, NCSOFT has released a teaser PV, world overview information, and several character introductions for the project. Additional updates are expected to be shared through the game’s official social media and YouTube channels in the future.
