NetEase AAA Title Blood Message Breaks Year-Long Silence, Confirmed for Summer Game Fest
NetEase’s upcoming AAA single-player action-adventure game Blood Message has returned to public view after nearly a year of silence. On June 1, the game’s official account released a short new teaser with the Chinese caption “A Long Wind Across Ten Thousand Miles,” loosely translated as “A Long Wind Across Ten Thousand Miles.” Summer Game Fest host Geoff Keighley also confirmed that the title will appear during the upcoming showcase.

The brief teaser does not reveal characters, combat, or gameplay systems. Instead, it focuses on a windswept historical scene, showing ruined structures standing amid sand and dust. The restrained presentation suggests that NetEase may be preparing a larger update for Summer Game Fest, which takes place on June 5 in Los Angeles and June 6 Beijing time.

Blood Message was first revealed on June 20, 2025 as NetEase Games’ first fully single-player AAA project. The game is developed by 24 Entertainment Lin’an Studio under NetEase ThunderFire, with NetEase Games serving as publisher. It is positioned as a cinematic, narrative-driven, linear action-adventure game for PC and consoles.

Set in the late Tang Dynasty, Blood Message follows a nameless messenger on a dangerous journey tied to the fate of his homeland. The game’s official description emphasizes ordinary people caught within larger historical events, with its story drawing from the historical background of Dunhuang’s uprising and the route back toward Chang’an.

NetEase has previously described the project as a blend of intense survival combat and Eastern storytelling, with public materials highlighting a realistic historical tone, third-person action, stealth and survival mechanics, and a strong emphasis on cinematic presentation rather than open-world exploration. The project is led by Zhipeng Hu, Lead Producer and NetEase Executive Vice President, with the team aiming to deliver a global single-player experience built around historical atmosphere, cultural identity, and large-scale visual production.

At present, Blood Message does not have a confirmed release date. The game has been announced for PC and consoles, but NetEase has not yet disclosed a launch window. With its Summer Game Fest appearance now confirmed, players could get a closer look at gameplay, story details, or the project’s current development status during the showcase.
