Subnautica 2 releases globally on May 14 at 8 AM Pacific, unlocking simultaneously for players worldwide. For reference, the global release time translates to 11:00 AM EDT in the United States, 4:00 PM BST in the United Kingdom, and 11:00 PM CST in China.
It is an open-water survival game developed by the creators of the original Subnautica series. In the game, players can explore alien biomes alone or in co-op, discover lifeforms, and build vehicles, tools, and bases in order to survive in an unfamiliar underwater world.During its development, the project experienced internal issues, including a public dispute between developer Unknown Worlds and publisher Krafton.

The game supports cross-platform multiplayer, allowing players to invite friends from Xbox, Steam and other supported platforms directly through in-game menus. It is primarily designed as a single-player experience, with optional co-op available throughout gameplay.

As one of the major releases in May, the game will launch directly on Game Pass. There is currently no information regarding versions for PS5 or Nintendo Switch 2.
